Artist Statement
I was on the coast of California near Santa Cruz and noticed large waves coming together in an area where there were close to a dozen surfers. This surfer looks to be on the edge of a giant maelstrom ready to claim him. It is printed in black and white to reinforce the fury of the water and place focus on the precarious position of the surfer.
