Artist Statement
I traveled to south Australia to photograph the great white. The only way to safely experience this ‘shark of all sharks’ is in the protection of a cage. The cage allows the viewer to see this animal in safety, but more importantly the viewer gets to have a scale by which to judge the size. In the image the shark is captured as it turns in front of my cage and the massive presence of this animal is felt by the person viewing the image.
