Artist Statement
In this picture, the holes were made by bullets during the attack to a military base in Rumangabo which was overan by the Forces loyal to renegade Laurent Nkunda, about 50 kilometers (30 miles) north of the provincial capital of Goma, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
When I took this picture, I was interested in show the contrast between the calm of the soldier against the trace left by the bullets after an intense battle and how the holes look like stars in a dark sky.
The picture was taken in Raw format using a 12.3 megapixels digital camera and imported in Photoshop CS3.
