Artist Statement
Ansel Adams once wrote "You don't take a photograph, you make it." Although I suspect he would not agree with my interpretation of this statement, he also stated "We must remember that a photograph can hold just as much as we put into it, and no one has ever approached the full possibilities of the medium." I continue my quest for these possibilities.
Flock of Cardinals is an image I captured in February 2008. Long after autumn, along a waterway in a wildlife refuge near Galt, Ca. these leaves held fast to the bushes from which they grew. Isolating them from the twigs and bramble brought a vision of Cardinals flittering through the bushes. Hence, the image, Flock of Cardinals was made.
