Artist Statement
This photograph is part of a series entitled The Bird in the Bell Jar and Other Works of Fiction. The series combines several different approaches, including: object documentation, portraiture, still life, fictional tableaus (sets), and a 16mm film. I began this project in 2007 when I became interested in the potential for communicating "fictions" through photographic means. This particular photograph was greatly inspired by 17th century Dutch still life painting.
