Artist Statement
Last fall while walking through the Arab market in Akko, Israel I was attracted to this woman framed in a doorway, and dressed in traditional black with contrasting white Hijab. As I approached, she turned away, not surprisingly. I took a few quick photos, and was pleased with this one, particularly the fine detail of the Hijab draped over her shoulder.
The print was made with archival pigmented ink on Ilford GALERIE Gold Fiber Silk paper.
