Artist Statement
I start with a photo that strikes me with its strength of line and elements of form. Using unique qualities of each piece as a guide, I transform values, hues and textures to reveal and add things unseen. I want illuminate the extraordinary beauty that can be discovered everywhere.
I am currently drawn to creatively explore the world of interesting patterns and shapes beneath our feet that is ignored. The source of Quadrilateral is a section of a school quad in Santa Clara. By modifying the structure, color or texture of various parts of the picture, I added chromatic energies to the visual flow and brought new focus and balance to the image. |
