Artist Statement
I start with a photo that strikes me with its strength of line and elements of form. Using unique qualities of each piece as a guide, I transform values, hues and textures to reveal and add things unseen. I want illuminate the extraordinary beauty that can be discovered everywhere.
I am currently drawn to creatively explore the world of interesting patterns and shapes beneath our feet that is ignored. Contrast was made from a picture of a sidewalk in downtown San Francisco. By modifying the structure, color or texture of various parts of the picture, I add chromatic energies to the visual flow and bring new focus and balance to the image. |
